Default Steering ratio and turn-in

i looked at the specs and the S2000 has a higher (slower) turning ratio than my last car, a TSX. is that really true? also, there seems to be a little more play with the wheel when i'm going straight. is this for more straight-line stability at high speeds, and less twitchy steering? i'll admit i've never driven an AP1 (i have a 2007), and i've heard rumors that the whole setup was more twitchy (but more responsive).

i would read around a bit,

yes the ap1 is more twitchy and responsive... more raw.. many differences not only between ap1 and ap2, but even MY00/MY01, and MY02/MY03...

i have both cars currently, 05 TSX and 02 s2k, and my s2k is a lot more precise than my tsx.

oh, i'm not saying the S2000 is less precise than the TSX....i'm just talking about the steering ratio....i remember seeing the TSX's being like 14.3:1 and the S2000's being like 14.7:1, with the CR falling in at like 13.8:1.

Steering ratios vary based on things like tire size and wheel base and certainly FWD vs RWD. For example the AP1 and AP2 have different numbers, but the same ratio feel, and the only difference is the tires.

Some do feel a difference between ap1 and ap2, but this has more to do with the ap1's balance than steering ratio.

That almost sounded too good to be true. Confirmed here: http://corporate.honda.com/press/article.aspx?id=4094

Looks like I'll be doing a CR rack swap in the future.

so no one knows why the steering ratio is so high? you'd think Honda would want it to have super responsive, quick steering. instead, i find that it's pretty gradual from 10 to 2 o'clock turns. not sluggish, not indirect, just a little more gradual than i would like or expect.

Thats the most retarded thing I have read today....

You already own a 2000 model per your info... they are using the Ap1s rack.

Do it if you want to .... its your car. I just see the point.....
