Default Steering wheel square??

Hey! I'm back after mannnny years. Looking to get an AP1 with about 50k miles.

Is this square-ish shaped line thing on the steering wheel normal? It's a 2003. Carfax has no accidents or repairs. Two-owner car..

This doesn't look like my 2006 OEM steering wheel that lacks all that texture.

The square-ish shaped line thing appears to be a shadow, residue from a sticker, or the results of a sticker maybe preventing sun fade underneath. Maybe from a display at a retailer?

thanks chuck! I have noticed a similar square shape, line or shadow on other S2000s, but this one seems a bit more pronounced. Thank you for the info!

Well, those are my guesses!

The AP1 guys can tell us if that's an OEM steering wheel. As noted my '06 doesn't have the shadow when I looked at it in my garage. Maybe outdoors with the roof down? Not doing that in the rain yesterday and I've owned this car for 10 years.

I'm fairly certain its the outline of where the airbag would come apart when it pops. Ive never seen one *that* visible however I could be wrong.
