I have a 03 S2, bought it in September. I am planing on doing a custom amp/sub instal in the trunk. Local shop quoted me $1100 - $1300, can anyone recomend anyone to do the work?

If you are interested, I have an Alpine CDA-7969 cd player w/ MASK face, A cha-s624 6 disc changer for the secret compartment, and a cha-1214 12 disc changer for the trunk along w/ a multi changer adapter and custom flush kit for the 12 disc changer

 

the s2k is really easy to tear apart and work on. I suggest you do it yourself, have a little fun, get a lot of pride, and learn a thing or two. And yes, for an s2k, those prices are HIGGGGGGGHHH!!!

 

1300 WTF~ ! My tsifu and I are doing it sometime next week, we're going to try and fit a hifonics colossus+digital designs 9515 in the trunk and I only have to bribe him with a few bottles of booze ^_^

I suggest you find a tsifu and bribe him with booze as well - it'll save you thousands $$

You really didn't say what you're getting for $1100-$1300. Is that the price just for labor or does that include product too? What materials are they using? Is it going to be a basic install or something more elaborate with linear actuators, neon, etc? What shop quoted it? What you were quoted could be a good or bad price depending on what you're getting otu of it or what you're doing.

My first suggestion is to shop around. Different shops will give different quotes and have different ideas as far as what they can do with your car. You owe it to yourself to do some research before spending that much money.

 

buy a JL box it fix perfect in the trunk and sound great and also save you space

 

could you please add some more words so I can study the JL box you mention - the search engine would not perform with just JL BOX

JL audio make a stealthbox for the S2k. Retail for $649. It has a 10" 10w3v2D6 subwoofer. Go to www.JLAUDIO.com for more info!! It sound pretty good for a 10". But i can't justified paying $649 for a 10" sub box. I would go with a 12" sub....Get a custom box!!
I think for $400 most hi end car audio shop could built you a custom Sub box with a 12" sub. I got my for $375 with a JL 12" 12w3v2d2 sub and a custom box built to JL Audio spec and sound just awesome!!

 

I already have a 10 inch infinity with amp ready to be built in - would they just sell me the box in your experience or opinion?
