Stereo Upgrade Completed Today
Well folks, as the newbie on this board (about 740 miles on my 2000 stook), I couldn't just settle for the inferior sound in my new wheels. Today, we did the following upgrades:
Alpine 7863 Head Unit
Alpine CHA -s624 CD Changer mounted in right side of trunk
Alpine 4 channel amp mounted on left side
Rockford-Fosgate FNP1614 Component Speakers in the doors.
Valentine One hard wired and remote display on the left side of the dash.
Nokia Handsfree phone kit
Still to come:
- Infinity sub woofer to put in bottom trunk well where the tool kit sits
- Alpine Nav system with screen mounted on a bracket over the radio
- return of the dash controls (interface coming next week from Aamp America)
- Neo 35 Mp3 Player for home and car
All I can say is that the sound is fantastic, even without the sub. Much improved over the stock crappy head unit.
The Valentine One is unobtrusive. It shouldn't be easy to notice by Smokey if he pulls me over. Of course, with the V-1, I shouldn't be stupid enough to get pulled over.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who posted their setups and gave me and my installers ideas for where to place the equipment.
All in all, a very clean installation by a very competent installer.
I will post pictures of the install.

Nevada 100% illegal

Oklahoma 100% illegal

Maryland 100% illegal
+ they use detector detectors. Better get a scanner.Virginia 100% legal

That's all the states I know. Someone else will have to fill in the blanks.
Thanx Brent...I guess I have to be more carefully when going up to Sierra for skiing. What would be the consequences if they find out you have the radar/laser detector where it is illegal?

BigRedESS,
Sounds like a great system!
Congrats on finishing the install. Did you do the install or did you have a shop do it? I also can not wait for pictures. And I am interested in hearing how the AMPS connecter works out., (I have the CDA-7949 waiting to be installed) and also the NAV system fully installed.
Congrats again and enjoy!
