stock wheels redone...?

Yes ... Chroming the wheels will definitely add more weight. While the price to get them done is good enough to get you some new tyres instead.

My wheels cost $600 to have chromed (including balancing). That was over a year ago. You may be able to get it done cheaper today. Check with a good tire shop that also deals in wheels. Their source for finished wheels is usually a main warehouse that stocks thousands of polished, chromed, and painted wheels and distributes to most tire shops, usually in all sizes and major brands. If they don't have any S2K wheels in stock, they can get them sent out for whatever rework you want done. Also search the internet (google.com, etc.) for "chrome wheels". There are several places that do an exchange policy (example cost, about $560/set, plus return rebate).
