Default Stolen S2000?

Just curious as to how many people have had there S2K stolen? I heard plenty of vandal stories but no concerning theft (which is a good thing). Just curious how effective that immobilizer is.

I've read about very few but there have been some. Due to the immobilizer chip, I believe that just about the only way involves a flatbed truck.

More than the immobilizer......the fact that we have a low production car means that there isnt a huge demand for black market s parts.

But there is a black market for S2000 parts implanted into other cars though. Like the seats, wheels, antenna, etc.

A mechanic told me it was possible to steal a car with an immobilizer. I'm not going to say how for security reasons.
At the Acura dealership I work at, we have had a big problem with people stealing RSX seats and TL/RL headlights for the HIDs. They are ripping the whole housing out causing thousands in damage. Also had problems with theft of all GSR parts from valve covers to wheels.
Just to show people will steal anything. Keep your cars in a brick garage triple pad locked and never take it out.

Its a chip in the key that is programmed to the ignition system. You can cut a key the same shape, it will turn the ignition but it wont start the car. The new key needs to be programmed at a dealership with an existing key. Kind of expensive. Many new cars have it. I think all of the new Hondas and Acuras do.

When I picked up my S2k last week, the dealer misplaced one of the keys and he said that the keys can be reprogrammed by clicking the ignition five times.

Anyone heard of this?

I think that only works if you click your heels while doing that and repeat :

"I'm not in Kansas anymore"
"I'm not in Kansas anymore"
"I'm not in Kansas anymore"

You might be talking about the remote programming. To reprogram the remotes you go through a sequence of ignition on/offs.
