I am going to definetly work on improving the alarm since I don't want this happen again. I can't reason throwing away my $ deductible amount every couple of months because some sack of shit doesn't want to go out and earn a living the honest way...

I've got the insurance adjustor coming out here within thirty minutes or so, so hopefully I won't get screwed. I have already taken pictures of everything myself.

I think that those stickers also sound like a really good idea. At least it's a visable deterrant before they slash the top.. If they can read...?

The seat locks and stickers are a great idea (just bought a set. Thanks Kodokan_4), but the next step would be an alarm with a proximity sensor. A GOOD quality alarm and sensor though. The "Cheesemaster 5000" will just false and drive your neighbors nuts. Set up properly, the alarm can warn when someone gets close and trip when they stay there too long. We (the shop were I work) have done a ton of them on convertibles and on cars where people have had trouble with keying with very good results.

Nothing stops it 100% of the time, but every little bit helps.

Is there a way to put some sensors on the convertible frames inside the car?

You could put shock sensors on the frame, but by the time they tripped, the top would be cut. The proximity sensor could be set up to pick up the perp within a few feet of the car.

Sorry to hear about your car dmfitz82.

My car also got jacked last week. I live over in the countryway area by Oldsmar.

Lately I've been hearing about A LOT of car break-ins in the Bay area.

Ok All!

I need your help and advice... The ins adjuster just got done with the car, and they are going to replace the top and the seats, but they want to take a "betterment" on the top. Translation, they will pay for the new top, minus a b.s. fee on the top for $120. Since they say that the top that I had on the car was 4 years old, they will only pay 90% of the cost for a new top. I think that this is B.S.!!

Also, they don't want to replace the seats with new seats... they want to just give me some used seats out of some wrecked S2000 somewhere.

Guys, help me out here!!!!

So how can you be sure that the seats you get will be as nice as your original seats? I'd read through my policy very carefully to see if it addresses this issue. Who is your insurance company, if you don't mind me asking?

The problem with stickers is that thieves may not notice them. An LED from an alarm system - even a dummy blinking LED - will be more visible and will give casual thieves pause.

Also, I have the seat locks I'll be damned if anyone is going to steal my seats short of taking the whole car, and once a crew breaks in, regardless of what they do to the current seats, at least they'll know they can't hit my car again in a few months when I have new replacement seats, since they couldn't get them the first time.
