With all the talk about alarm systems and locking wheel lug nuts I began wondering if anyone has had their S2000 or the wheels/radio being stolen. I've been reading posts here and "other boards" for about 9 months and I only remember a few vandalisms. It makes me wonder if the alarm systems are really necessary and no I don't want to be the first unlucky fool to suffer this disaster.

This car is the joyrider's dream.

It's quite rare so I'm not worried about it being stolen and re-registered (yet!), or even midnight spared.

But if it were stolen and joyrided that would be too much to bare. I mean I "drive it like I stole it", so I hate to see what someone who wasn't responsible for the repayments would do.

There was one stolen off a dealers lot in Florida, probably an inside job. There have been complaints of vandalism (keying, prying off the emblems, etc.) We probably have very little to worry about with the keys, alarms, etc. Enjoy.....

One of the local S2k guys had his rims stolen out from underneath his window. Found his car sitting on the rotors. All in the first month of ownership...kind ofa different type of "Break-in" eh? Took awhile for replacement rims to come in, but everything worked out eventually.
I'll just cross my fingers that none of us experience that type of incident.

With the standard coded key, I think the car needs to be flatbedded to be stolen...I have 2 wheel locks per wheel and know that if they want the wheels really bad, they can still get them. I just try to never park it anywhere except if I have an eye on it.

Had mine keyed on day 3 of ownership. Nice 8" scratch vertically on the hood! Zaino Bros. is helping a little but what can I say, it's *just* a hunk of metal.

Can't relate to "keying" and theft? Grew up with it in California. Have no Stooks in Utah so my biggest problem is explaining to people what it is when I enter it....and deciding who goes for a ride (don't tell my wife)!

Anybody remember the person that had their wheels stolen while the car was at the dealership overnight last year? I seem to remember that the dealership refused to take any responsibility for the theft; I wonder how that all turned out?

I've had 2 break-ins in 10 months. The first, was after 3 weeks of ownership. Door lock was destroyed, and the metal araund it bent in. They did not manage to get into the car.

The second time hapened on Friday the 13th October. This time they broke the lock, got into the car and attacked the ignition. All that was left of the ignition was little flakes of metal. From there, they went into the engine compartment looking to hotwire it. Unable to get my car moving, the sods took out their revenge by looting the trunk of all content, including my perscription sunglasses (why?).

I now have an alarm, and hope they pick the car next to mine next time.
