I am going to be picking up my new silver/red by Saturday and was wondering how they perform in the rain with stock wheels. It is also about 45 degrees here. Thanks!

I'd be more cautious of the temperature than the rain. Under 40 degrees all high performance tires start losing their grip rapidly. Be careful until it warms up, or invest in the best snow tires you can buy.

since it will be new, it should be fine with the full tread on the car. but still...be careful, just like any car (especially RWD) on the road in the rain.

I bought my car a week ago. Since then, it has rained cats and dogs. Temperature ranges from 30-40 degrees F. Yesterday was probably the worse; parts are the streets were flooded. Handling is great, since these are brand new S02s.

Man, I can't wait until the rain goes away. Looking at the bright side, at least this rain makes the break-in process easier. I have no urge to VTEC it in the rain...

50 more miles until VTEC.

To all you new Stookies - remember your breakin period, this is a great time to get the feel for car before you experience the VTEC. The car will be fine in the rain, but just like they said, you need to watch the colder temps. The rubber reacts to the temperature changes, especial the stock tires that come with the car. I use snows in the winter and switch to performance at the first sign of spring. I cannot wait to get the top down - is it Spring time yet?.

Just watch the tires for the first 150-200 miles. They come impregnated with 'release agents' that make the tires extra slippery. Colder temperatures exacerbate this.

Enjoy your new ride, but heed the others' advice about avoiding VTEC for the first 600 miles.

Last year I only got caught in the rain one time. My handling felt fine, although I probably only had about 5k miles on the car then. Several weeks ago I was driving and got caught in a rainstorm with 14k miles on the tires......SCARY!!! I still have tread, I'd guess around 4 or 5/32'nds, but those rear tires do not displace water once they get down on treadwear. I literally fishtailed all the way down the freeway. I've got new 17" wheels and tires going on in a few weeks. In the meantime the S2000 has been living in the garage.

But what will they be like in week 2?
