Stoplight Questions...How to Answer??
You all know what a conversation starter the S can be at a stoplight with the top down. There are a few questions I seem to get a lot that I just can't seem to answer satisfactorily. What do you say?
A. Is it fast?
If you say "yes," you sound cocky and arrogant. You can't say "no," because of course that would be a lie
. But seriously, what is fast? To me, the S is plenty quick. To some, nothing short of 12s in the quarter mile is quick. What's the right answer? It's so subjective. I never know what to say.
B. What't the top speed on that thing?
I get this one a lot, surprisingly. I have no idea why. I know the correct answer (roughly) but do people really think I try this out? If I tell them, are they going to think I'm some insane driver who speaks from experience? I'd never attempt to find out on public roads. And besides...is it really a good measurement of a car's performance?
C. What'dya pay for that?
I hate this one. I usually just say "I got it for MSRP, which is about the best you're gonna find in Cali." If they really want to buy one, they can look up the price. I had one guy think it was a $60K car
. I felt good about telling him it was only half of that. But generally, I don't feel comfortable telling people stuff like that. It's like someone asking me how much I make. It's just wierd.
I know I'm not the only one getting these questions. how do you all answer them??

Question #2 (top speed) reminds me of a great line from an old movie. The female lead was asked, "What's the wildest thing you've ever done?". She responded, "I don't know -- I was hoping I hadn't done it yet."
So what's the top speed?
I don't know....yet.
Take care,

The answers can depend a great deal on who is asking the question and how it is asked...
Most times I've gotten very friendly, well meaning questions of this sort, and I just answer them with the truth, and a touch of humility (it is the car making me look good, not me making the car look good
1. yes, pretty fast
2. I saw a video where it went to 170 mph
3. 48,000... Canadian dollars
