Default storage

I may being going to Asia for a year and I find it remarkable how attach one can get to a car. It would probably be financially prudent to sell the car and
not think about it.My ideal would be storing it in a garage and asking someone to take it for a spin every month but don't have anyone to ask.I know a s2000
isn't an exotic but I wonder if there are places where a car can literally be
taken of.I realize insurance is another factor for that spin every month.
Any thoughts or advice?

doesnt make sense to pay money to insure a car you cant drive

id just lock it up. cancel insurance. put it up on jackstands. replace the fluids when you get back

If you've got a trustworthy friend in a rural area, I would just hand it off to them. Lessens the risk of an accident and you can scale back on insurance

My car is sitting in storage with active insurance, and is taken out for a spin every once in a while.

It's financially prudent to sell the car, but you'll never get another chance to own an S in that exact condition.

Sell it. The value will only drop, you can find another beautiful condition one if you try hared enough, and the longer you leave a car unattended, the mroe problems it will have. Electrical gremlins, deteriorating rubber, rust, etc.

^^^ depends on where you leave it and what condition you store it in.

Store it for the year. No need to have it driven in the meantime. Rural areas can have accidents from deer collisions and the like. Insurance can be pared down to just non-collision to cover you from theft / fire.

If you own the car free and clear, definitely worth storing. If you are making payments...sell it!

The car will be fine and doesn't need driven, just put it on jack stands, replace the oil and coolant when you get back before driving it and drain and refill the gas tank with fresh gas before starting it.

Also it's a good idea before storage to put some fuel stabilizer in the gas and run the car for a while to get the stabilizer into the fuel lines, filter, injectors, etc. to prevent them from gumming up.
