Storage for your S2000
I highly recommend having a garage. I don't live outside and neither do my cars. There have been numerous horror stories in the past on this forum about vandalism/thievery on cars left outdoors. I'm even a little nervous when parking my car to dine out or shop. I find myself checking on the car from time to time during the outing to make sure all is well.
I garage my S at all times (I have a three car garage so that's easy
). . .
Seriously, unless you invest in the hard top, I wouldn't suggest leaving it outside. Between the elements (sun, rain, snow, etc.) and human nature, I wouldn't sleep very well at night if my S was unprotected. . .

Covered carport would be a minimum. Mine is inside the garage at home under cover, and at work, it stays next to the building or in the shade in a secluded spot away from others.
No garage, no S2000 for me, I'd hate myself if stuff happened b/c it had no safe place to sleep at night.

Mine spends most of the time in my garage with the car cover on to protect it. In fact, it had never spent a night outdoors that I know of before I started my Westerns States trip.
When I had to leave it out the first night in Long Beach, I was quite concerned about something happening to it. Other than a little bit of moisture on the back half of it (the end furthest from the building), all was fine. After about a week I was able to leave it out in the rain without thinking twice about it. I'm not so sure vandals are going to pick out an S2000 more than many other nice cars out there.
Since I intend to still own the car decades from now, I don't want the paint fading from too much sun. That's why it doesn't spend any time in the sun if I'm not using it. Three weeks ago it didn't even have that layer of grunge inside the fender wells and underneath the car that all cars seem to get. A few days of driving in the rain and going through road construction detours has changed that. Time to crawl under it and start cleaning...

Garaged. No way would i have bought it otherwise. I still get nervous about parking at work on the street and i have had my for over a year.I suspect it all depends on where you live and how comfortable you feel about your fellow man being a good one.
Garaged, but with black paint it still gets dirty!
I do leave it out in the rain with the roof down (OK, only once so far!)
I'm even more paranoid that I have been with other cars. (Parking diagonally in supermarkets etc)
I think that if you desire the car, you should buy it. You simply need to budget for a place with a garage
