Hi, all. Just wondering why did people decide to get S2K. Magazine review, or autoshow or friends of a friend of a friend told you.

Anyway, The story of how I got mine was quite interesting. 1 Month before I got my S2K, I was in school on the way to work. I got a phone call from my friend who is in the dealership to service his Civic Si. His salesman told him that does he know anyone who want a S2000. They have one that has no buyer on it for 1 week. So, I drove over right away and look at the car. It was red/black. Personally, I don't really like red color for me. (No Offense Greg ) So, I went to eat lunch. After lunch, I decided to get it. The salesman told me that it was sold 5 minutes ago. Doh!!!

1 month after, the salesman called me. He says they have a silver/black in the showroom with no buyer. I went to the dealership. I ask one sales woman for a test drive of a S2000. She told me that no test drive for S2000. I was telling her that If I don't get to test drive it, I am not buying the car. After several minutes, my salesman showed up. He let me test drive the car without any question asked. After test drive, I just told myself I got to have one of this thing. so, I bought it the next day. Good thing, it was at MSRP. If they still gouge me for a unwanted S2000, I would be very unhappy to drive 50 miles to get gouged by dealership.

I got mine at September. I guess the weather up here is getting cold. and, maybe sales of S2000 will calm down before the winter. so, they were desperate to sell the car before the first sign of snow.

I haven't got mine yet, but I was sold when I read that Honda had a state of the art, pure sports car in production. I've always loved Honda and always wanted a sports car. Marriage made in heaven. Now if she would just get here.

Here's my story:

Read about the car back in 1995 in Road & Track, Car and Driver, etc when the SSX debuted, the car that would later become the S2000. I had an Acura at the time, wanted a new Honda.

September 1998
Honda officially debuts the S2000, I decide I love the car and it is the one I want to own, so I go to the local Honda dealer hoping to place a deposit but they look at me like I'm crazy and tell me to try back later

January 1999
I put down a $500 deposit right after New Year's, first in town and first at my dealership

October 1999
After hearing NOTHING no color choice no options no price from my dealer after 9 months, they call and say that my car is here: a white/red and they also have a silver/black. The owner kept the s/b and they priced the white/red at $40K with all forced options. I was extremely pissed and walked away

December 1999
Pohanka Honda advertises 3 S2000s for MSRP on H-A.net after not getting the 10K over MSRP that they wanted, I immediately call but none of them were silver so I wait until January

January 2000
Silver/red sold to somebody else, damn I missed the boat so I place a deposit on the next one: a silver/black due in February

February 22, 2000
I drove 100+ miles to get my baby, 2 days after buying a house

The rest is history...........

Saw a photo somewhere on the net. Went searching and found numerious photos. Contacted dealers by e-mail and phone all over the country. Found cars at MSRP but not locally. Finally called local dealer nearest to where I work and he would sell me a stock stook with his required undercoating package for $700 over. Ordered the car without ever
seeing one in the flesh let along driving one. Couldn't be happier with final product.
I love my S2000. Black/Black

Read about it for a year before it came out and knew I wanted one. I didn't even know it had hit our shores when I saw an ad from a dealer saying they had it. I went down that night, bought it, drove it home and have had it for 13 glorious months.

Well, I was originally was looking at a Civic to replace my Prelude. I test drove a modded Civic, exhaust, wheels, springs. It was ok, then I walked into the showroom and saw the S2K. As the salesperson was telling me about the civic, I couldn't keep my eyes off the S2K. So after a couple of minutes I had to sit in it. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST OR BEST MISTAKE I HAD EVER DONE in my life. As soon as I sat in it, I knew I had to have one. So, our conversation progressed to the S2K. The salesperson must have thought I was blowing smoke when I said I wanted that one. We started talking price and all and I was not really concerned about the price. All I knew is that I was in total lust for this car. I ended up leaving without the car because the dealer would not hold it for a day for me to get more money from the bank and get my finances together to pick it up. That kind of made me mad, a week goes by and I drive by another dealer and I see a Silver/Black. The original one I looked at was Red/Black. I really liked the way the silver looked. I went into the dealership. Told them I wanted that car and if they could hold it for a day or two. They said no problem but would have to release it from hold if I didn't consummate the deal within 2 days. I thought that was fair. So, I went back to work told my boss what I wanted. Got a check written and went back to the dealer and finished the deal. So, my 20K car ended being a 40K car and I have had ZERO REGRETS for doing it. I love this car and I will own it for as long as it keeps me smiling.

Hi guys-

I was at the track on a fun day with friends- we invited Greg Stevens along- he was someone who had responded to our "private" track day invitaion at ha.net...

So there we were, blowing up cars left and right- (we killed a new Celica GT-S that day) and I was giving rides in the Skyline GT-R. We were watching Greg drive, and I swear he was making his car jump four or five feet sideways every corner. We couldn't figure it out, so I took a ride with him... We discovered he was downshifting MID APEX(!) without rev-matching... I couldn't describe what I wanted him to do, so I showed him in his car... and the experience stayed with me for about 4 days, until I decided my dad needed a new convertible to play with when he visited that weekend. The rest, as they say, is history...

Sure Nick you had to bring THAT up!

I had been interested in the car for about a year. And then one Monday in December I awoke and decided to go get one. I called a dealer and asked if they had one, he said that he was looking at a red one on the showroom floor. I said, "Perfect, hang on to it, I'll be there in 45 minutes."

That's it...I drove it home after a couple of hours with the top down...

Nick, you didn't mention how my driving is NOW that I have had yours, Phil's and other CGI instructor's expert guidance! I give Nick a LOT of credit for his instruction. My times at Gingerman are now within a second of Nick's...

BTW, do you realize that Nick is the only person in One Lap of America history that has blown not one, but TWO motors?!?
