I purchased my car in early 2000 with about 7,600 miles. Ever since I've owned the car, I've had the problem where the driver's window won't retract automatically and won't retract fully when the top is lowered.

To be honest, it really didn't bother me too much. At least not enough to warrant having it in the shop for a week to be fixed. Call me lazy or whatever.

Anyhoo...

After the heavy rains this week in Dallas, I finally took the top down yesterday. I noticed the drivers window retracted fully. The automatic retraction works now too.

I'm guessing the problem revolves around moisture. The part I'm confused about is that I've driven in heavy rain on multiple occasions in the past and the window has remained "broken"

Maybe the planets were aligned and an ant farted in the Amazon causing one rain drop to hit the afflicted electrical component.

I guess I'll just consider myself lucky and see if it decides to stop working again.

Yeah, I know. I spoke to the dealer about it and they said the repairs would take one week. Ordering parts and what not.

I've also read the posts about others who have had the same problem. Pretty common.

It just seemed to fix itself, after almost 2 years of being broken. I guess time will tell if it stays fixed.

i have this problem too and also have been too lazy to have it fixed. Mine also works some times and not others. I think mine is temperature dependent. It started giving me troubles the beginning of last spring on some of the colder days. Through the summer it worked fine except for a few occasions. In the winter, it never worked right and now that it is warming up again, it seems to be working fine again.

Molly W posted a thread on this some time ago that has gone to several pages. For the record, mine worked sporadically, then the Auto function quit entirely.
