Default Strange Problem?

OK, I've had my car about a month, just broke 600 miles. Everything is fine except I notice that when accelerating the car pulls to the left and when I let off the gas it pulls to the right. The harder the acceleration the harder the pull and come back. This is in freeway speeds, I guess it might be there at low speeds but not as noticeable.

Took it to the dealer and they said my tires were not inflated correctly but did not do an alignment. Seems like its still there, is there something I should know before taking it back to the dealer? Thanks.

Have you hit any serious potholes or anything? I only ask because the problem could be that your car is out of toe. By this I mean, if your driver's side front wheel has more toe-in than your passenger's side front wheel, the car will list to the left under acceleration because of the left front tire's increased resistance. The car would then list to the right as you slow down and the load is taken off that left front wheel. You can check the front tires to see if this is the issue. A wheel with too much toe-in will have excessive wear on the outside edge of the tire, since it's literally pushing the wheel through a turn. It doesn't take a crapload of force to knock a car out of alignment and feel a difference. An alignment would solve this problem.

I don't think the dealer explanation makes complete sense. If one of the front wheels was at a lower tire pressure than the other it would list to the same side in both breaking and accelerating, wouldn't it?....unless all four wheels were off spec to different degrees, in which case who knows which tires were low or high.

I don't know if what I'm suggesting is the problem for certain, but given the young age of your car, I don't see how you could really be having brake issues. the only other thing I can think of for a car with such low mileage is maybe improper wheel balance. Lets us know how the fix goes.

I think they just don't want to do a free alignment. I'll pester them till they do. Thanks.

Double check your tire pressures. This car is known for pulling under acceleration when there is a differential between the tire pressures of different wheels.

I had the same problem with my s2000 about a month after I got it. I got some tire damage to my right rear tire, i had the tire replaced and had the same effect. hard push left when i pushed it pull right when I let off, only hwy speeds and the faster the worse it got.
It turned out that the replacement tire had slightly different diameter than the original. The original was made at a different factory. I ended up replacing the other side and that fixed the problem.
One of your tires may have been damaged before you took delivery and was replaced. The way to check this is to have the dealer put it on a rack and measure the distanct around the tire, mine was 3/4 of an inch different.
hope this helps
good luck
