I will try by manually pulling the throttle cable at the engine side a number of times and let you all know. Thx for the tip! The car is bone stock and no fluids other than the engine oil was changed @15000km. The car has now 26500km, the sound began and gradually got more noticeable lets say at 25000km or so. In the beginning it was like the sound was coming from under the middle of the car, like a very small leak in the exhaust (pipes not fitting perfectly) or something.

Mine's always done that...it became more noticeable with the airbox lid off, and is very apparent with the hood vents now. I like the sound

Likely, it's intake whistle. It can do it at a very specific rpm range, throttle position and engine load. The whistle can be more or less evident due to condition of the air filter or build up (or lack of) in the intake manifold/throttle body area.

My car made a whistling noise since the day I bought it. To me it sounds kind of like a wrc car (transmission), just not nearly as loud.
Thats because their transmission's have "straight-cut" gears which sound exactly like the noise you hear in reverse.

mine does that too; I've always wondered what that was.

I don't care for the sound myself...it reminds me of those old Toyota minivans when their superchargers get busted

Mine makes that sounds too! I thought the car came with a supercharger ... j/k

I was a little puzzled when I first heard it, but never bothered to figure out what's going on ...

Is your airbox off? You're describing the air sucking sound that you get from an intake heh. I had my airbox off and noticed it almost instantly.
