Default A striped "S"?

OK my dad is a big car guy and has a 54 ford F-100 (rodded pick up) he's kind of "old school" as anyone 60 something should be. he met this guy who he made quick friends with who striped his truck and he wants to do the same for my "S" for my birthday.

I originally thought no but it seemed like he thinks it's the perfect gift for me so i thought i would think about doing something subtle... any ideas (yes you can tell me if you just think it would be bad) if you have pics that would be awsome...

Thanks!!!

There are at least 2 members here that I've seen do it. Not everyone likes it, but to each his own. I would suggest doing it in a vinyl decal so you can remove it later if you don't like the results.

One person who did it actually painted the car with stripes, which is what i'd do - i'd think vinyl would look tacky since it covers such a large portion of the car.

This guy has a vinyl stripe - http://www.zianet.com/SLlover/page68g.html -

Looks tacky imo.

Whoever is on these boards and has the Spa with black stripes did a better job imo.

Because your car is a Sebring just like mine, I know exactly what it looks like without the stripe. Therefore, I think adding a stripe would be a big mistake. The only thing you could do would be a slightly darker shade of metallic grey. There are so many opportunities for screwups, and matching the metallic quality in the original paint would probably be difficult.

Black would be too contrasty on such a light colored car, and any other color would look foolish. I think Sebring looks best when it's monochromatic: silver wheels, clear corners, black interior, etc... Therefore a grey stripe would be the only option, but I would still avoid it if I were you.

I think that the more subtle you can go with the stripe the better. I bet that a silverstone stripe would look cool on the sebring, if you gotta have it.

I think he means "pin-striped".

If not then go all out with a big screaming firebird decal!
