I go to college and I'm thinking about getting the S2000 dropped and put an oem lip on it. My problem is that there's speedbumps at my school and I'm not sure if I'll have a problem with them. Does anybody have any suggestions? Im going to be running the 17 inch Shuk WR1's with the Eibach Pro-Kit. This is the spring with the most subtle drop in the $200-250 range. Anything else that can give a similar or less drop? 1 inch or less? I've found Tanabe, and Spoon, HKS, but not Tanabe is too low, Spoon is too expensive so if HKS is actually less than the Pro-Kit like Modacar says, then I would go with them. However, I've heard that the pro-kit drops it an inch, but then Modacar says its 1.3" Can someone help? Thanks. -Chris

edit: Just to let everyone know, as of yesterday I'm officially an S2000 owner. I purchased a Silverstone Metallic 2000 S2000 with 12,000 miles on it. Red leather interior, looks beautiful. Just thought I'd let everyone know!

Welcome to ownership! I just got the H&R springs which lower the car .75" in the front and .6" in the rear. I have 18" Work Meisters and it closes the gap quite nicely. I paid $230 for the springs.

I just put on the comptech coilovers on my04 yesterday, if i were you i would try a coilover system this will give you the ability to adjust as you see fit. you can lower them and if you get to school and you find yourself hitting the speed bumps just adjust them until it is comfortable to drive. I always buy coilovers for that reason. By the way you live in danbury are you going to school in hartford.

No, I go to Southern in New Haven. Do you go to Hartford? I know a couple of people at the University of Hartford. Which coilovers are you using? I was going to avoid coilovers since they're so expensive for decent ones. -Chris

Coilovers kinda blow the $200-$250 price range...

Might consider Kg/mm super sport, they drop about 3/4"

Also keep in mind the OEM lip isn't going to lower your clearance by just a whole lot.

I have had Kg/mm race (1 1/2" drop) with OEM lip for a few thousand miles without any problem. You just need to be aware of the speed that you take bumps and driveways

You may also want to watch a drop if you have the OEM side strakes (you probably don't but I thought I'd throw it out for everyone else). These can take a beating going in and out of sloped driveway entrances that flatten out after the front end crests.

Yeh I've had the ProKit on my Civic Si and Prelude Si and loved the way they made the car sit, and handle. It's my favorite spring, but when I got my S2000 this weekend, I noticed it is pretty low already, then with an inch lowering and another 1.25" for the lip. I just want it to be a little higher than my prelude was. I had the ProKit with a full bumper bodykit (Blitz/Black Widow), and the Si had a Tsunami lip, definately more clearance on the Civic than on the Prelude. Maybe the H&R's, .75" is perfect, Kg/mm is also an idea, whichever is cheaper. Thanks. -Chris

I graduated two years ago from university of Hartford. I thought maybe you went there because uha has the worst speed bumps on this planet. As for setup. I went with the comptech coilovers springs only. Even for spring they were expensive about 680.00 but trust me when i say it is better to be able to adjust them rather to have springs put on and hate the ride height you are stuck with. I know they are more expensive but unless you are able to test other systems you are never going to know what ride height you are going to be comfortable with. I was hesitant at first to only by spring as to the fact that if they are not matched to the stock struts the car has a bad ride quality. But these springs seem to work very well with the stock struts.

^^ fairly bold statement

....and you are positive the comptech adjustable springs (aren't tech. coilovers IMO) are matched to the OEM springs??

Jago just try to keep in mind there isn't one solution to different needs

Reading on I see you have had springs on other cars. as for my setup I dropped my car 1.5 and i have been fine so far. i have been getting over speed bumps just fine (lol on an angle) so if you want to play it safe go for a 1.25 or even safer with your setup (oem lip and side strakes) a 1 inch drop should be just fine. Just keep in mind with 17 inch wheels a one inch drop will still leave you with some gap.
