Successor to the S2000
Lots of threads on this already. IMO don't wait for Honda to release something you like and don't be tied down to a manufacturer if you're looking for an upgrade. Chances are there will be nothing exciting in the next 2-3 years (again, IMO). Honda isn't the only good car manufacturer out there.
The 'next' S2000 and NSX (if they ever arrive) will have a lot to live up to. Honda will only understand how foolish they've been when their target has migrated to other marques and don't have a good enough reason to switch back...

I hope they don't make a successor. I'm more interested in Honda making more OEM hardtops available then a newer version of the S2000. Which might lose all of the aspects of the AP1 and AP2 that we all like.
They are more then likely not going to go backwards in their design. They will want to stay competitive and innovative. So figure a lot more "go green" that looks and acts sporty.

I'm afraid we may have to wait around for Hondas 75th or 100th anniversary before there is even a chance. Think about it. How many car companies make a car as great as the S2000 and immediately follow it up with a car that lives up to the enthusiasts expectation? If they do make a sucessor anytime soon there is no doubt in my mind they will screw it up for us enthusiasts.

I'm with MP2K - perhaps on an upcoming anniversary, they will celebrate again with another very special roadster like the S2000, but that's not much on which to hang one's hopes. The successor to the NSX has arrived, but don't look for it outside of Japan's Super GT racing circuit. Actually, rumors are still circulating that a street version may yet hit the Acura showrooms, but I'm not holding my breath.
Like any S2000 enthusiast, I wish Honda still made the car - or an updated (but not ruined) version of it. On the other hand, the fact that there won't be any more of them manufactured just makes the one I have all that more precious.

FYI, Honda sells more Fits in six months than the total production run of S2000s, and the same is true for Civics and Accords. That's their targeted market, not sports car buyers. You don't really think the S2000 was a profitable enterprise for Honda, do you?

I would imagine their target for the S2000 and NSX is distinctly different from the target for the Civic and Fit. I know they claim that margins are thin on sportscars - but it will be much worse for them if they have no sales volume to speak of.
I also doubt the new NSX will be in showrooms. I also agree that the S2000 is all the more precious without a new model
