Thumbs up Suggested "Fixes" From the Factory?

Hey everyone,

I just picked my 05 s2000 and I was wondering what, if anything, most of you recommend needs to be changed from the factory settings. The first thing that comes to mind is getting rid of the delay valve or swapping it for a AP1 slave cylinder. It seems that most people prefer the more direct shift action of a non delay valve transmission. Is there anything else like removing the delay valve that I can do to improve performance/ enhance my driving experience?

Also, I noticed my car stuttered at idle a couple of times (i.e. Revs drop below normal idle speed for a split second as if the car is about to stall but then return to normal idle speed immeadiately). What is going on? I know several people have mentioned they have a similar problem, but it if I remember correctly, most of those people did not have brand new cars and their idle problem was related to a dirty throttle body. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Change your facial expression from bored to a big smile ... come to think of it, this change will happen automatically and doesn't require any extra effort.

A few easy things:

-Take the slack out of your throttle cable by the throttle body

-Do the top down while moving mod: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138773

-Disable the A/C in defrost mode: http://www.s2katlanta.com/%7Es2katl/forum/...hread.php?t=907

Very helpful tips, Cyclon! Do you know where I can find a DIY guide for taking the slack out of the throttle cable? Search is being stupid...as usual

Anybody have anything else? I'm loving these tips!
I don't think anyone has bothered. If you look at it, it will make sense. There's two 10mm nuts that adjust the tension in the line. Look at the exposed area right next to the throttle body. Chances are you can move it up and down with your finger b/c of all the slack. Just loosen those two nuts and move the line back a bit, then tighten them back up.

Thanks, johnny! Looks like you have an 05 silverstone too!

Cyclon, does removing the slack from the the throttle make a very noticeable difference? Just curious.

Not a tremendous difference, but a slight one. On the pedal end, you gain a very very slight feel that the throttle responds faster. It's no biggie, but it's very easy to do and takes all of 30 seconds to do it.

Get a service manual from Helm. http://www.helminc.com

The stuttering is most likely hot air being injested by the engine. Pop the hood and you'll notice that the top of the radiator is just in front of the airbox opening. Get some insulation (such as a foiled bubblewrap type sunshield) to cover the top of the radiator. Search for "radmat."
