It seems to me as though we ought to be able to police ourselves without forcing the moderators into heavy handed implied threats. Most of us seem to be pretty decent and just need to be reminded that we were new once too - the point of this thread, I think.

I also agree. I think the best way to handle it is politely stating that the question has been asked and there are details on other threads, but summerize the answer not just send them to an old post. That way a new discussion could develope with new ideas introduced, isn't that part of the reason for a discussion board? If some think it was a repeat, it's up to them to not read it.

Yup you will do fine. Remember this is Stook season so we are going to see a lot of VIN and delivery announcements and a lot of delivery questions. Be nice because the new owners are very excited, as we were, and will ask dumb questions out of shere enthusiasm. It will die off by years end.

Thanks cthree, I agree this board will do just fine. Us S2K veterans have to remember the questions that we asked and that many of the old posts have gone to computer heaven( or hell). Besides, is any question about our beloved car really dumb?

Whoops, maybe we shouldn't go there!!!

Keep up the good work on this, the ADULT site.

I agree. People were very courteous to me when I first visited, even with all my dumb questions that could have been answered by use of the search engine. We need to be especially considerate because the site is still building all the helpful reference threads. The newbie questions will acutally help us do that.

I can't believe the childish behavior going on "over there". I haven't been back in quite a while. Hope I don't post any stupid questions when mine arrives.

Right on Y2KS2K! Do you think those with 2001s will make fun of us because of the clock they have and we don't? Do we have to tell them we don't have a clock? If we don't tell them about the secret compartment they'll buy more of the new "high-boy" wind screens being offered on the board. They won't be grinding the 1-2 shifts because they've got the upgrades, so they'll think we not only can't tell time, but can't shift either. The more I think about this ...

I agree. All S2K virgins should be able to pop their cherries on this board. I'll be anxious to see what the pet peeves are with the 2001.

I would like to say that it is the generous nature of the "old timers" on this board that makes this site worth supporting. (I think the other site may be coming apart because we have the cream of the crop over here.)

As a newbie myself, I don't want to waste anybody's time anwsering questions that have been posted before (and may have been lost to crashes), but I don't know what else to do except to beg the understanding of this esteemed group of S2K owners. You guys may not know it, but you are practically Gods to those of us who don't own an S2K yet. Think about it; most of us haven't even HEARD the engine on a Stook, much less taken one for a test drive. A lot of you have had a full year testing the limits of this wonderful machine. Don't let this swell your head, but you guys are kinda like a latter-day Tom Selleck and the rarified S2k is like his Ferrari: you are living the dream that we are striving to obtain. So, yeah, if we seem a little backward in some of the questions we pose, it's just that we're hungry for the knowledge that makes dreams worth having.

I've never had to wait to purchase a car before. The passing months have been murderous. So when you are kind enough to answer my questions, it helps to bridge the time until my own S2k arrives. Most of us out here absorb every word that you type and commit it to memory.

You guys are real pioneers, so thank you for being kind to us pilgrims.
