Default Suggestion on a Custom s2k exhaust?

Hi,

I was planning to get a Amuse R1 Ti Extra for my s2k, but to much $$$ for me now. And I have no clue wich other exhaust to go to.
Then I came to the idea if I can make my own? Like buy 2 mufflers and just make a custom pipe from front to the back and splits in 2.
I am planning to get the HKS Carbon Ti. Now this is my first time i'm working with honda's, they need to have backpressure for the motor to perform right. Will this system mess it up, or I have to buy a fully made system?

Thank you,

How will the cost of the two mufflers compare with one of the other cat-back exhausts?

Well the Amuse that I want is about 1,900 , and the hks universal is about 320, so for 2 maybe in the 700, with no piping. But it can maybe produce more hp compared to the hks dual hyper exhaust for the s2k, cause i've read that it bearly or doesn't even produce hp gains (HKS Hyper Dual exhaust)

I guess my point is why not wait till you can get the one you want? (not knocking your idea)

You will loose the ability to return to stock if desired and the "custom" welds and pipes arent going to match the rest of the OEM piping.

I don't think that just any exhaust shop is going to be able to produce more hp by just fabricating exhaust pipes for your car. There are only a handful of exhuasts that add hp to our car because Honda did their homework. For the cost of your custom exhaust you could buy an exhaust system ( pipes and mufflers) from Spugen and maybe even save a few $$$.
I have Hayame mufflers on my car with stock pipes. I knew other exhausts wouldn't do THAT much for performance, so I went with a set of mufflers that I knew sounded good(IMO). Having heard the Spugen exhaust (thanks ninegrand! ) I would not have bought my Hayame's and spent the extra $150 and gotten the Spugen. My Hayame's were $200 each, and labor to put them on was around $50.

If you're going to go with the amuse, save your money and get the amuse.

For N/A, you arent going to get much of a gain. The stock exhaust isnt bad at all, just heavy. Just save up and get the amuse cause it's also possible to lose power if it ends up being too restrictive from where it splits.

I would just cut off the OEM mufflers and add mufflers of choice. Should be cheaper and fit right too. Also the OEM piping is SS. Or just save up some $$$, Amuse is really nice stuff

Well thx for the advice guys, now I have to do some brainstorming.

Prob is, i'm fixing a "wrecked" 02 s2000 up. Was "wrecked" on the rear, but only have to change the bumper and taillight, all the rest is in place, no damage on the suspension or so. Only prob is I'm missing 1 muffler. Thats why I need a new system for now, or I'll try just putting some cheap mufflers ont he end for a while and same $$$ for the Amuse , and try saving for a full veilside body kit, or just begin with a Amuse front bumper spoiler. But now I need to finish the body work and i'm ready to take it for a test drive again.

Thx guys,

I have never seen a muffler shop that had mandrel pipe bending equipment - so a custom exhaust might be worse than the factory one in terms of airflow.
