supercharged
Thinking about getting a sc in the near future but reading some post ive been changing my mind. Performance wise, i read a s/c would increase for example your quarter-mile time by .5. with a extra 100hp to the wheels thats all the s/c gets, I would have thought more. I have read it is also more fun to drive but for that amount of money, im looking for more that .5 performance in my times. Do you have to do more work to get more speed on the s2k. For example getting gears I know helps alot. Also what is the lowest price some of you have gotten a sc for. Ive seen some for like 4 to 5k. Is that what they normally go for.
To me, ET's arent really that big of a deal. Some people don't wanna risk their drivetrain parts, so they do a soft launch and net .5 off their ET, sometimes less. What does matter, however, is trap speeds. Supercharged cars will trap 6-8mph higher than stock S2000's, which is a lot. And getting a tuned turbo, like boroznikmal, will/should net you 10mph+.

oh no... believe me.....I did the math.....
Sc
Vortech kit ~$4000
Toda HEader ~ $ 1100
Exhaust ~$900
Total = $6000
Turbo ~ $5500
Exhaust ~ $750 -3" exhaust from Spugen......
total = 6250
BTW there is a speedcraft Turbo kit fs: $3600 i believe....
remember the 8 PSI on a SC car happens at 9K and happen at 4K on a TURBO>>>>
Peak number really mean nothing when comparing the two cars....its the area under the power curve....
Let me ask u this....
two S2k's
1. SC
2. Turbo
are both are rated at 300 rwhp....how many time do u think the dude in the sc will be putting down the 300 RWHP???

wow..wake up on the wrong side of the bed did we.... u call me numbnuts I'll call u numb brains cause you simply are and u obviously dont have experience with a turbo S. oh I forgot....some people think that by reading a few posts on the internet, they know everything, at least enough to call others numbnuts...
I am currently running a turbo S... no problems and I am using an emanage......Not sure how you can call the emanage a POS when your probably running with a vafc.....
So far I have been running a constatnt 12:1 AFR with -1 degree of retard in timing for every pound of boost. unless I get bad gass in my tank, I think your POS vafc will cause your POS SC S2K engine to blow up before mine those...
The install took 15-20 hours... and I haven't had a problem since.....

Well, I'm probably making more power than you, 350 rwhp, 11 psi, running the AEM EMS with 785 cc injectors.

I'm shocked that you've had no problems with your Turbo S. You're probably the first person on here who has a Turbo S without going through some serious tuning issues. Sorry for calling you numbnuts, but people seem to take turbocharging the S2000 waaaaaaaaaay too lightly. There are so many newbs on here who think turbocharging is as easy as supercharging the car.
I totally agree.... turbo charging similar to SC is no joke....Actually, there are 4 of us on the east coast that are flyig UL out here to tune our AEM EMS.... I like the emanage but I would prefer the EMS for the soul purpose that it is stand alone....
350 RWHP is a very impressive number... I am proud to see more and more people are acheiving this number range. I am planning to run not more than 9 psi of boost and I expect no more than 310-320 RWHP.....
I believe if you have the interest and the willingness to learn, turbo harging is definately worth the effort....

I was thinking more like this...
S/C--Vortech or Comptech.....$4k
VAFC---w/tuning....................$450
Total......................................$4,450
I think your turbo price is a little low... I know I haven't done one, but where's your tuning price and dyno time? You can't just throw on a turbo like you can an S/C. If you're car is running so good with the Emanage then why are you flying UL out to tune your cars on an AEM EMS? It seems a few people have flown someone out to tune their turbo'd car and that can't be cheap. I see you didn't include that in the tubo kit price
I'm not trying to get in a flame war, but you are definitely the exception to the rule when it comes to turbos. We finally have a guy here getting a turbo put on and I am anxious to see how reliable it will be.
