SuperChargin VS. Bolt Ons
Are there anyway you can spend $4k-$5k on Bolt Ons parts that can add up to 1/2 (50hp) the power of the Comptech Supercharger (100Hp)? It's true that NA HP is better than Supercharging and Turbo Charging HP.
After spending way too much time hanging around here I'd have to say 'NO'.
It appears Honda rung every last last kilowatt out of the S. Things like cams might make some difference, but get ready for a really lumpy idle and emissions test failures.
There's an old saying "Nothing beats displacement". The new argument is 'cept shovin' more into the same displacement'.
The CompTech is a bolt on anyway. It certainly appears easier than new cams.

I think I said this before in another post, so I'll quote Cartman once again:
"Look, it's very simple guys. Green MegaMan goes with Red MegaMan and Yellow MegaMan to make the Ultra-Mega-MegaMan.
You have to have all three or it doesn't work, see?"
In other words, if you get the super charger, other bolt-ons that you add to the car will add up much quicker in gains than from the stock motor (again, this is all assumptions from my own previous experiences with other cars out there, but I'm sure it can be proven to be quite true with this car as well). So, you'll end up spending the money on the aftermarket parts *and* the supercharger - my suggestion - unless there are limitations to some of the bolt-ons when you get the super charger - i.e. - you can't have this intake this way, etc, or this will need to be changed out - then just start off with the small bolt-ons and work yourself up on an as needed basis.
Then again, if you are racing at least semi-pro, then...well, you would be limited not by budget so much as class restrictions so this wouldn't be an issue.
my two cents.

However, if the engine failure is due to the supercharger, then the failure is not covered by the warranty.
While Honda may not cover an engine failure caused by the supercharger, Comptech does. That's why we spend so much time dialing in the whole kit so there won't be any failures. But clutch/transmission/rear end problems that may arise from the extra power won't be covered by either warranty.

Well put! 100HP extra isnt overboard and should prove to have a long life to the engine. 500 will surely get blow by and cause some other problems. If your gonna run 16 pounds or better of boost on this engine good luck!
Comptech's 6 is pleanty in my opinion.
BTW: Did you guys get rid of the ugly blue pipe in the kit?
