Default Suspension Questions

I appologize if this has been covered before, I searched but didn't find anything.

I just have a few basic questions about suspension. What I'm looking to do is lower my car a bit, about 1" - 1.5", this is mostly just for looks.

What I'm not too sure about is the pro's and con's of doing just springs versus a coil-over setup. Do I need coil-overs? Will spings cause any longterm problems with the stock suspension? Will my camber/alignment get hosed?

I like the idea of dropping in springs for ~$250, but I almost feel like there'a a catch involved.

Thanks in advance.

If you do a search on "lowering springs" there are over 300 threads, many of which will have useful info. I am thus assuming you are a dork until further notice.

Tein S-tech springs work great with stock shocks, surprisingly enough.

mean, rude, yet still funny. but i think he earned it. it gets tiresome to see some of the same questions posted around all the time when people don't do so much as ATTEMPT a search; i don't think you fall in that boat so you're doing good.

my personal recommendation ... buddy club coilovers. why? cuz i said so.

If you simply want to lower the car, then simple lowering springs would be more than sufficient for your needs.

I would recommend RSR Ti2000 springs. They are made of titanium (hence Ti2000). They are much lighter than the stock springs. They give excellent ride and handling with the stock shocks in my opinion. They are a little more expensive than other springs, but as with almost everything, you get what you pay for.

Oh, I forgot. The RSR's leave about a one finger gap all the way around.

Sounds like I don't really need to invest in more than springs at the moment.

Thanks all for the info!

Get an alignment after you install the springs. Your tires and your wallet will thank you.
