Suzaka Blue @ Msrp???
This is sick! I have been shopping around dealer to dealer, best deal I got was 32840 for a SILVER or Black 2002 S2000. I want the suzaka blue and all the dealers are tryin to screw me over. This is really pissing me off. Either they are forcing me to get options I dont want or when I want to purchase an extended warranty they want to sell it to me for 1799.99-1599.99 or 1499.99 for 6 years 100000 miles. I found a yellow for 200-400 over sticker. But i want the blue and i went to 3 dealers to place an order and guess what... They dont take orders! My friend got his 2002 M3 for sticker which was 57000 dollars. I mean cmon the s2000 is a nice car but tryin to buy it, its a joke. The Honda Dealers got there noses a little to high. 8000 units availble compared to an M3 which has 1500 Units. YOu can walk into a BMW dealer place an order and pick up the M3 for sticker, but Honda dealers dont take orders, they force options or they force a markup for no reason.
Ohh... i want the car in February latest March
Anyone know a good sales person i can talk to...
What i want 32840 + (1250-1350 for the warranty) + tax and license
THATS ALL!!!!!!!!

Just a word of advice. Shop for the car you want with the options (or lack thereof) that you want at the price you want.
Don't muddy the water with the extended warranty!! There is no reason to buy it immediately or even from the same dealer you are getting the car from!
Good luck.

As of Thursday last week, Cambridge Honda, Cambridge, MA had two blue units.
I believe they sell for MSRP. Cars registered in MA must meet CA emissions requirements, so I think you'd be able to register it legally in CA.
They are dorks to deal with and know nothing -- and I mean nothing at all -- about the car. Be prepared for a polyester experience straight out of a late-night cable TV exercise machine or get-rich-quick scheme infomercial.
Have you seen this car? The interior is...uh...well...blue. Very, very blue. Bluer than blue. Bluest blue you ever saw. Blue, blue, blue. More blue than blue. Blue dash, blue door side panels, blue carpet, blue everything.

I ordered mine in Late May of last year without any hassle for MSRP. No forced options, no extended warranty down my throat. Nothing. I just told them what I wanted and that I wanted it for MSRP, nothing less, nothing more. Put down a $500 deposit and the deal was done.
I suggest you try asking some of Cali guys here for suggestions on dealerships to go to.

I purchased a Suzuka Blue at Grand Honda in Elmhurst Illinois. They were advertising 3 S2K in the Sunday paper for $29450, black with black, blue with blue and silver with red. These guys knew nothing about the car. They didn't know how to latch and unlatch the top or even how to read the gas gauge. At that price though the quality of service and poor delivery is easy to overlook. Anyway this dealer is always advertising great prices of Hondas. I was quite skeptical about the price and was surprised that they actually had the advertised car and that they were selling it at the advertised price without any add-ons or special charges. We paid $29450, + $50 doc fee, tax and license and we are extremely happy over the price.

Check out Dublin Honda, it is in the Bay Area. Ask for Ken G.!! He was GREAT. This was one of the best car buying experiences that I have even had!! Let him know that I sent you (he will know who we are 'cause they have only sold one blue, and that was to us) And I find the blue interior wonderful!! It is a great color (then again you must know that, hence you going though all this to get one). Sadly we could not get it at MSRP we were able to get it for $2,000 over. The dealers in Fresno (not to mention both dealers only have silver, a good color but not what we wanted) won't even talk to you for less then $5,000 over!! And one of them was asking $42,000 for a silver one with a hard top
what are they thinking!!! I feel for the sucker that buys that!! We were willing to pay the extra cost to get in it now, rather then getting put on a wait list for one at MSRP. You can check the inventory here. Good Luck!!!

Which dealerships have you been going to??
Try checking out Penske in Ontario and Norm Reeves in Cerritos. When I was shopping around for mine, they were two dealerships that would sell for MSRP.

My brother in law got his Suzuka up here in N. CA for around $900 over sticker. He could have ordered one from a dealer up here for sticker but he didnt want to wait until Feb/March. You might try Merced Honda in the Northern Valley or San Leandro Honda in N.CA. I know those two places will sell at MSRP if you push them hard enough....
Not sure if you are the same person who sent me a PM, so..........
This is mistake number one.
No offense Satchel, but I would also be your best friend if I could sell you cars for $2,000 over sticker.
FWIW, I was able to get a 2002 in Spa Yellow (my preferred color) in the Bay for MSRP a little while back and the same dealer sold their Suzuka for $200 over. Here is what I recommend:
1) Deal only with Internet/Fleet/General Managers
I found all the dealers within a 100 mile radius of me on Honda.com, sent them all a canned email letting them know what I wanted, what I was willing to pay and that I was willing to do the deal that day. FYI emails go right to Internet/Fleet/General Managers. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT walk into dealerships and talk to the floor monkeys. That is the WORST car buying strategy in the world.
2) Get your ducks in order and let them know you are serious.
Tell them you have secured one out of state for at/under MSRP (whether true or not), you have secured financing and that you are willing to pay MSRP. Tell them if you cannot find one locally in the next week that you will purchase the one from out of state. Nothing wrong with a little white lie to instill a sense of urgency.
3) Keep it simple.
Don't mess with trade in, extended warranty or let them force options you don't want. They make a ton of cash on these, so even MSRP might not be the best deal if they ream you on any of these. I did give them the financing since they were able to beat my rate by a quarter point (they make nice cash on financing, so use it to sweeten the pot if they can meet/beat your deal).
4) Be patient. Don't let emotions ge the best of you and be ready to walk away if they won't give you the deal you want. I can't even begin to tell you how many slimeballs called me back after I walked.
FYI - I did get mine from Serramonte for MSRP. Talk to Roger Ibanez (Internet Manager).
The only dealer I know of in the Bay Area who does MSRP with no haggling is Merced Honda. Unfortunately I told quite a few folks on the board and Phil Gauthier (Internet Manager at Merced) had sold his entire allotment of S2000s for 2002. Might be worth a phone call to see if anyone else has dropped out (he will hold your place with a $2K deposit, but it is FULLY refundable for any reason). Give him a call at (800)734-8101 because I know of atleast one other member that found a car elsewhere and dropped off of Merced's list.
Act serious, be patient, stick to your guns and you will find your deal.
Good luck!

I'm also unwilling to be a victim of California dealer price gouging on these cars. I've been looking for a couple months, and employed Jimbo's strategy -- emailed 100+ dealers in the Bay Area and So Cal, then did the same in other parts of the country. The CA responses were all over the board, but a few dealers were willing to sell for MSRP.
Try:
Rock Honda in Fontana (they claim to beat "all prices", whatever that means)
Clawson Honda in Fresno (I put a deposit on a Suzuka Blue at MSRP for April delivery and and then cancelled when my company announced layoffs, so it may still be available -- talk to Dave Miller at 800-794-7595)
Honda of the Desert near Palm Springs (I forget the internet manager's name, but he was willing to sell me a blue S2000 he had inbound at MSRP).
I finally bought my Suzuka Blue from Joliet Honda (that's Joliet, Illinois) last week for $30,335 It's inbound to them from the port of entry, and I should have it in about three weeks. Total cost will be around $31,800 delivered to my home in an enclosed trailer, so you can definitely do better than MSRP if you're willing to "import" one into CA.
BTW, I would avoid Honda of Dublin based on stories I've heard about deceit of customers on sales and service -- I understand this dealership has been sued numerous times by unhappy customers.
