Swapping ECU's
Hey guys, Im swapping ECU's this afternoon and I have a question. I have a 01 and Im swapping another 01 ECU into my car. Do I need to and get the keys from the donating car? or Have honda re key it for me? Thanks.
I think so yes, at least get the keys reset ($70 i think), but if you're getting a new ECU, why not get an 02-03 ECU? I think they are a bit more efficient than the 00-01 ECUs, but I'm not an expert.
A buddy of mine has a one he is gonna let me borrow to see if it fixes my problem. So im gonna use it and see if it works. Damn I really dont wanna pay close to a hundred bucks to "see" if it fixes my problem. Can they check my original ECU to see if it its working correctly?
Ok, under stop and go traffic my car "Sputters / Bucks" like it is out of gas. I have done the following with out any luck. MAP sensor wack, borrowed a buddy's MAP sensor off his s2k, re set valves, messed with and cleaned the Air Idle Control Valve, Seafoam full injector cleaner, checked plugs, and just recently I swapped out the fuel pump and fuel filter. Still the problem exists. Gonna try and swap the computer n see what that does. Where are the keys located for the computer im trying to use? Thanks Any other options would be greatly appreciated.

Key? His car key?
Guys
There is three parts to this system.
You have to swap all three for it work. Not swapping one will require that the dealer reprograms the ECU. I think the dealer will need the VIN of the car the ECU came out of to get the temp code neded to program the ECU.
I have swapped my 02 keys for 04 keys. The Receiver is part of the key cylinder so it was swapped too. I tried to start the car using the new Receiver, it would not start. By removing the orginal Receiver anf hooking it up. It will worked fine.
