I'm trying to swap my AP2 interior from Tan to Black and Red... so far I got the main parts in hand (seats, door panels, tunnel cover, carpet). I was looking in the car today to see if I'm missing anything else, then I notice the leather "pocket" (or jus a piece of leather) on the edge of the carpet behind the seats are in tan, anyone can tell me what that part's called? and where would be the best place to find it?

OT - have you taken out the dash? I'm going to be swapping out mine to black next month and just seeing how full my hands are going to be.

 

no, the dash's black so i don't need to take any of those out.

 

PM hardtopguy with your question, he's swapped out so many interiors he could probably do it in his sleep. As for the dash question, I think that would be a royal pita.

 

I just picked up an 05 GPW and Im doing the same thing. That flap should be a part of the center console leather.

 

I did the same swap. Tan to red/black.
Those leather pieces should have been given to you with the carpet when you bought it.

I'd look around in the classifieds and post a WTB thread.
Someone has got to have a pair laying around somewhere.

hm..i have the console already and pretty sure it's not a part of it...
i'm still waiting on the carpet to arrive this thursday, let's hope that flap comes with it.

but in case it doesn't, is there a more specific name for that flap? so i can do a WTB..

swapping out the dash is a PITA. i did the same blue to black interior swap about 2 years ago. a local s2k member (bubbachong) helped me out and ended up doing most the work. i couldnt even begin to tell you where to start now. i just remember it was a pain. make sure you have a tack gun b/c you will need to take off your vin on the dash and replace it with the other one.
