Default Switching regular and synthetic oil?

On my last oil change I used mobil 1 synthetic oil. My 4th oil change. Before then I have always used regular oil. I have an oil change coming up and was wondering if going back to regular oil (money thing) would be damaging. Is it?

Also, with synthetic oil should i still change my oil every 3K, or can I go longer. I don't drive it hard all that much, but it is a daily driver. Thanks guys.

read the oil journals in the technical forum.

the short answer are this:

you can switch between regular and synthetic all you want. it won't hurt anything.

regular oil can go 5000 miles between changes on this car. if you change your oil every 3000, you're really just wasting money and resources. synthetic can probably go 5000-7500, though most will still change at every 5000.

my suggestion is havoline GF4 regular oil. it's just as good as synthetics it seems, with the exception of drain interval. even so, you can still go 5000 miles on this oil before changing it.

i agree that it does not make sense to change synthetics too early.

btw, its not just mileage that determines when you should change the oil...
time is relevant too.
synthetics do better over time than dino oil, but you should still consider changing before the 5k to 7k mark if your annual mileage is really low.
