Do the tail lights from the 00-01 light up differently than the 02+? I noticed that mine does not have the halo when the lights are on.

 

its just a piece of chrome trim, it will match right up... should even be the same harness

00-01 do not have a chrome trim around the red and clear circles, the 02-03 do. The 04+ are the same and have LED brake lights, so that was the one you probably saw. The 04+ are different and are not directly plug and play, but close. Do a search on AP2 tail lights.

I stand corrected as shown below.

 

The above tail lights on the white car are AP1 tail lights.
The "halo" you see is the reflection from the camera flash. All AP1 tail lights look like what when the camera flash goes off.
