Sorry to drag up an old thread. My '00 has this problem with the red lens on the passenger side. Has anyone had any luck getting Honda to replace the tail light assembly? I was quoted almost $300 to have it replaced by the dealer!

Remember, if you do that, you are probably going to need BOTH sides replaced. The newer side is probably going to look newer/bighter than the other side, vice/versa.

The driver's side is perfect. I've stopped by several car lots with S2000's. My driver's side is just as bright and red as an '03. Even if there was a slight difference, it would be a million times better than the pink/clear crap I've got now. Ah well, if nothing else, this would a be a good use for the tax refund.

Hmm, can you take a picture of this fading light? I'd be curious to see this and it might help others out as well.

I'll try to take a picture when I get out of work. Hopefully there will be enough light left.

Ok, I took a couple pics in the rain. I stopped by the dealership and they couldn't find any actual damage(cracks or water) that would have caused this to happen and said they hadn't seen this problem before.

Mine were replaced between Christmas and New Year's. They looked pretty much exactly as piecesofcurb's do. If the dealership is giving you a hard time on the replacement, have them call Menlo Honda in Redwood City, CA. There's where I got mine replaced.
