Matt you might not have a bad idea here bro... May be worth a shot afterall... looks like a lot of patience and a little luck to achieve...

 

If you do it, be very careful with temperature.

My experience: oven set at about 250, except that I forgot that my apartment oven always seemed to burn stuff. I can't say what the temperature actually was, but in practice when cooking (food, not auto parts) I behaved as if it were running 25 degrees (Fahrenheit, though I suppose that's obvious) hot. I'm not sure why I didn't factor this systematic error into my S-modifying adventure.

Result: they did come apart, though with some effort in the prying. Unfortunately, getting them back together was another, impossible task, as the clear covers had been badly warped.

I now run the (painted, and pretty nifty looking if I do say so myself) taillights without clear covers.
