Default tempted to buy a certain s2k

I'm new to the board and I'm doing to hop into an s2000. I have always wanted an ap1, and I found a member on the board staticx*^%* (don't totally remeber the name) and he is sellin the rebuilt titled s2000. I checked it out today and it needs some work, but I have no problem with that. The only thing that concerned me was the motor. Its an ap1 with an 05 ap2 motor/trans.... but he said it was running an ap1 computer still so it would still rev to 9k. When it entered v-tec it didn't seem like it wanted to pull any harder. It seemed slightly sluggish throughout the rev range, but he did tell me it hadn't been started in about 2 months. It has an apexi ws2 and a spoon snorkel and a 6 puck clutch. Could it be that maybe it just needs some fresh fluids? (ie. Gas, oil, plugs, tranny flush etc?) I'm not trying to dog him, I'm actually really tempted to pick it up, but I want to make sure what the problem may be, because I want an s2000 that can run like the others and perform just as well.

Thanks guys

(After roaming the boards, I already fell in love with it, it is an excellent source)

And to do that I can just disconect the negative terminal for a few minutes?

Btw we had to start the car by doing a clutch kick, I think the batterie was dead =P

Two points.
1. You're thinking about buying a car that the previous owner overreved by 1000rpms on a regular basis.
2. People have been running AP2 motors on AP1 ECUs without blowing their motor, but you'd probably be better off getting an aftermarket ECU, and having it dyno-tuned. This would also let you set a 8500rpm rev limit.

BTW: delete the double post

If I were you I would just stick with a stock AP1. You dont want to inherit anyones potential car problems. Trust me you wont enjoy the car if you constantly have to worry about fixing it. I guess it depends on price but IMO I would not want a AP1 / AP2 mix. haha.

Very true, but we mutually agreed on no cash, just a straight trade. I'm trading my 02 civic si for his car. I think it would be worth it to an extent, but I've always wanted an s2000 so I'm not sure if I should dive into this amazing deal or not...

Good deals are hard to turn down, I understand that. I don't know the extent of the "work" needed on the car, but I agree that having a car that doesn't always run correctly kills the joy of owning the car.

On another note, I would be very hesitant to buy a rebuilt car, unless you know exactly what happened.

He wants to trade an S2000 for a civic. Something may be fishy. I would check it out in great depth before trading.

I would just wait until you sell your civic and get an s2000 that you can have no worries about. I would pass on this particular one
