Default Test drove a 2000 S2000

I had a stock Integra Type-R for 6 years, and I loved it. I test drove a 2000 S2000 yesterday with 32k miles. The car handled and braked well, but I was unhappy with the straight-line performance. My Type-R was faster, and I was expecting more especially above 6-7k . Two questions please. Is it possible that the car I test drove was beat-on (that's my guess), and secondly would I be happier with the second generation coming from a Type-R? By the way, my comment is not a dig against the S2000 or Honda. Since having the Type-R, I know that Honda and Acura produce great products. Thank you.

An S2000 should be faster in a strait line. Either you just perceived it to be slower, there was a problem with the car, or your ITR was modded. Maybe you should go test drive another one and see how it compares?

scottrunsxc is right, the S2000 is faster in a straight line. My friend got a 95 civic cx with a JDM 2001 type-r engine, CAI, exhaust, header, intake, and have done a lot of weight saving mod, and he can only pull half a fender on me from 20-120mph. I only have a aem V2 CAI. I have never test drove an AP2, so can't help you on this one.

ITR have a more... dramatic vtec switch over.

s2k will outperform a ITR in all aspects stock vs stock

s2k = ROADster not DRAGster hahahahah . but s2k are pretty fast.. just cuz you dont feel it.. doesnt mean its fast.. feel test and number test are two different things.. s2k runs what..

1997 Acura Integra Type R 6.5 14.7

2000 Honda S2000 5.5 14.2
2003 Honda S2000 6.3 14.9 (Manual)
2004 Honda S2000 5.8 14.2 (MT Mar '04)
2006 Honda S2000 5.5 14.0 (C&D May '06)

not sure where you got those numbers man

an s2000 can run about a 13.9 at 101 at the 1/4 mile
an ITR can run about a 14.5 at 95

with the right drivers of course

the ITR is louder and has more dramatic VTEC engagement

i had a 2001 ITR, that i sold, the s2k is way nicer

i agree the S does feel a little slow in a straight line but it is every thing else that makes up for it. i went form a gsr to a wrx for more power. the wrx felt faster in a straight line but i was not really happy with it. now i have a S and can not be happier(unless it was alittle faster) cant beat going topdown.

Test drive a newer model or have a board member drive with you.

Ask for a ride in a member's car, esp with some bolt on mods and see how you like it.
