Test Pipe?

Did you check the code to see if it was test pipe related or were you just guessing it was?

Well, honestly I am guessing. But what else could it be? The car only has 4000 miles on it and the light came on 60 miles after I installed the pipe.
the s2k already has a great hi-flow cat from the factory, it uses a metal substrate which allows more flow with the same emissions reducing capability as a standard cat. so theoretically, you won't see as significant gains as putting it on any other car, BUT, i do not have personal experience with a test pipe on my car, so theory is all i can offer.
If your state has emissions inspections required, you would "get caught" if you forgot to reinstall your CAT before going in for inspection. Same thing MIGHT happen if your state has safety inspections -- and might not. CA (as always) may be a special case and they very may well have the "environmental gestapo" about!
On the other hand, my sparsely populated state has never had emissions inspections. We had safety inspections until two or three years ago, when apparently the Feds no longer mandated the states have them. When that happened, my state ditched the safety inspections --- and now have NO mandatory car inspections of any kind. You are not very likely to "get caught" in a state like mine.
Thanks,
Richard

How exactly would you get caught with a test pipe other than smog/emission test?
I just dont see a police officer crawling under your car to check for a cat but I dont know these sort of things

You car will be noticably louder than stock with a pipe and if they suspect you are modified it just takes them a second to bend over and take a look.
someone posted a before a after video clip of the Berk's test pipe...
