Thanks to all who shared their expereinces and opinions of the stook. Unfortunately, the wife nixed the S2000 on grounds of where is the rear seat....But all's well that ends well, today I put a deposit on the very first E46 M3 SMG that comes to Missouri.

Heheh, just hope someone like me doesn't decide to switch their 2001 e46 M3 slot to be a 2002 e46 M3 slot for the SMG and undoubtably more interior/exterior choices.

Actually the dealer I was dealing with said multiple people are backing out of their slots, and he acted like I could get a 6 speed this summer if I wanted. Anyway, he's large enough that even if I don't get Number 1 I'll get one early in the production, which I'm not sure is a good thing with SMG being new to the States, but oh well :-)

Hey Steve just out of curiosity, is the dealership Plaza or Suntrup, or neither?

I'm probably going to hold out until I can order the color I want, like the Anthracite e46 M3 I saw earlier this year during testing in Sausilito, CA.

Jay -

Suntrup. If you want one, they acted like they could get you one fairly quick in comparison to others I talked to due to cancelled orders. Also, Autohaus has a number 2 slot available for cabrios.

Loki-

Yes, that is a great color. I wonder, is it darker or lighter than your picture, or do you think that's a pretty good representation? I don't want too dark since dark cars, while clean look awesome, IMHO are too hard to keep clean looking. Right now I'm thinking TS, of course

Steve, I was just asking because I worked at Suntrup last summer as a porter. The wheels on the M3 look awesome!

Excuse me if I sound ignorant...

But what does SMG stand for? Is this an even more sporty or tuned version of the new M3??
