I'd be up for a 4.44 group buy but 4.77's are too much. I do a lot of highway
driving.

You will be very hard pressed to find the 4.44s anywhere in the US and buying them from overseas will cost at least as much as our new 4.57s, which are better made and were designed to fill the "sweet spot" between the 4.44s and 4.77s.

Rick, maybe I was referring to the less expensive 4.43's or gear set that Mazda and/or Kia were
selling...I can't quite recall. I run tires that are .8 inches shorter than stock so my gearing
already is around 4.30 so 4.57 would take me too close to 4.77 for my comfort during the
highway cruising I always seem to be on. With the smaller tires, the 4.4-ish gear set would
be just about right and more than aggressive for my daily driver.

I don't really agree with this..... .who cares if he has a tire that is an inch shorter? basically just makes the gears shorter just like the differential. What would be harmful (or a poor way)? the speedo would read too high and the mileage on the car would read incorrectly but........... seems like a smart cheap, non permanant idea to me.

If you ask me, it's easier and more value driven to buy different diameter wheel/tires for a similar effect to gear changes.

chrissa - just because honda put a particular size wheel / tire on a car doesn't make it perfect for everyone.... they try to strike a balance between the masses.... some folks put high mileage rock hard plastic tires on their S2000's because they drive slow, etc.... some switch to R compound tires.... same goes for widths, etc......

So, basically Russ has lowered his center of gravity (even better for some racing), lowered his overall gear ratio (good) and can swap back to stock in 1 hour at the tire shop.

Maybe they shouldn't make coilovers for S2000's either..... since Honda suspension is perfect.

Notice that I said Honda considered it, I didn't say Honda got it right. Hey, Honda UK doesn't even agree with Honda Japan about the alignment specs on our cars. If they can't agree internally, how can they expect to agree with everyone else? All I want to point out is that changing things on your car can have more of an effect than what you initially thought. It seems that a lot of people make changes without completely considering what it is that they are doing or understand how it effects their car.

I'll say it again, I think you can change the diameter of the overall wheels, but you better know what you're doing.

Chris.
