"0-60 in under 6 seconds"

I have NEVER seen a sub 6 second 0-60 with out launching the car.

Does this mean that we have to launch the car and Honda should be liable if it gets broken doing just that?

Just food for thought.

I have thought about that numerous times. There is just no way in hell you can achieve sub 6 second 0-60 without a clutch drop. Best i ever managed with a regular start was 6.21...

In order to get anything better then that you need a 5500 RPM plus, most often 6k RPM plus, clutch drop. Half ass launches at 3-4k actually do more damage and make the car even slower then the 6.21.

So yes, if honda advertises sub 6 seconds, they should be liable for all the damage incured as a result of owners getting what they paid to get.

This ad is in most auto mags.

There is a copy in 6/01 Road & Track, page 38.

The main copy reads:
"The last time you had this much fun driving a car it cost a quarter and gyrated in front of the supermarket"

The bottom right next to the Honda & S2000 reads:
"The six-speed 240-horsepower, 0-60 in less than six seconds Honda S2000."

The fine print in the top right says:
"As tested by Motor Trend. honda.com 1-800-33-HONDA

Don't you think that all Motor Trend 0-60 times involve "high impact" launches? Seems like a fair claim to me.

I've also thought about this. Seems to me Honda is saying that you can achieve a sub 6 second 0-60 time with the S2000. In order to do that you have to rev and drop the clutch. If Honda is promoting this then it seems to me they have to warranty for it as well.

if there is a manufacturing defect that gets in the way of the car behaving as advertised then i believe something should be done. i had the 1-2 grind, i sure as hell don't want my diff snapping on me.
