I was doin' a bit of a numbers game, as I do every so often, to see the cars that (bone stock) come close to the S2000 in terms of performance #'s. This is what I found...

(All times are from 1 mag for the sake of consistency.)

I dont know if any of you have driven a WRX, but I think those numbers are BS. With the recent real-life performance issues of the M3, I am wondering if Subaru has pulled a bit BMW style of a marketing stretch. I drove that car and it felt about 1/4 to 1/2 second faster than my Prelude. Of-course, this wasnt a broken in model, but I doubt the car is going to gain a full second or more after break-in.

Hmmm. I tried to separate them and couldn't, either. But you could do what I did--went into Word & converted the text to a table.

Actually a broken in WRX does make a HUGE difference for some reason. I gained over a full second in the 1/4 (g-tech times) just by breaking in the car. For some strange reason it realy is night and day. Maybe its some weird computer trick to keep the power low the first few hundred miles. Now with just a manual boost controller and a K&N filter I can run consistent 14.0X on the G-tech no problem. Maybe a little faster if I wasn't scared to death about breaking the transmission.

No, not really. I don't have the prices as tested in front of me (sorry), but the SS, S4 are in the same range, with the WRX being less expensive.

This is the biggest threat to the S2000 in my eyes. Not as far as overall performance, but in a drag-race situation. This WRX with an EBC, compressor bypass valve kit, exhaust and intake will probably smoke an S2000 bad, and it isn't as tricky to launch. Oh well.

The S4 numbers are wrong according to owners that say it's not that fast. It's also interesting that the AWD cars have the lowest skidpad numbers.
