I've seen a big money 36 roadster fall out of the rack. Not pretty. It had a custom matched trailer and everything.

i drive cars on the lift almost on a daily basis, part of the job i guess. if the car is well supported i don't think it's really an issue.

did you find the noise?

really think about it for a second. if you were under your car and i came and started shaking it how would you feel? ...
Wouldn't bother me one bit; I wouldn't be under there unless I'd already tried that myself and failed to shake the car. One jack stand under each of the four jack points makes the car so stable I can't shake it. And believe me, I give it the old college try before crawling under it.

With the car running at idle in first gear, I'd be more worried about tangling my hair or clothing on some spinning part (driveshaft or half-shaft) than about the car falling on me.

Your jack stands and garage floor may be different. The bottom line is we're each responsible for our own safety; if you aren't comfortable, don't do it.

if clutch was out and the rear wheels were turning, you might have a problem. Unless its the transmission fluid transferring motion, that should NOT be happening.

The torsen differential is set up so that in the air, it pretty much acts as an open differential.
