Default Thinking about buying an AP1

I have a pretty immaculate AP2 that is almost to clean to take to the track.... I am seriously contemplating buying an AP1 and using it specifically for track use and occassional daily driving. Are there other users with both S2000's? Should i just suck it up and use that money towards the AP2 or leave the AP2 alone and pursue an AP1 and build that?

A good used AP1 can be had for less than $13k...

Decisions decisions.

best of both worlds. I baby sit a buddy of mines ap2 for two an half years and had two ap1's of my own. his car is gone now so I just have the two ap1's. get the ap1 for track/daily driving and keep the ap2 for weekends.

As long as you have a place to garage BOTH the AP1 & AP2, then go for it.

And if you can afford it (insurance mainly). I'd like to do the same with another S but I only have 1 garage

If you don't have that extra garage space, then a car cover maybe?

Nothing is too clean to track. I thought my 19k mile ap1 was too clean to track. Could I buy a beater car, sure. But I love driving my ap1 on the track and street. I love the fact it's the same car. I mean it's not like an ap2 is a grand tourer. All s2000 belong on the track, however the drop top makes it a very fun street car.

It comes down to how many track days you are doing. 10 or so not on r comps or slicks, use the same car. When you are on full slicks or doing heads up or tt, it's time for a dedicated track car.

But an ap2 or 1 makes a great cross over street/track car with a simple recipe. Roll bar, tires with tr of <200, mid level coilovers, pads/fluid, basic power mods. Have fun
