Default Thinking about Color Swapping...

I have been thinking lately about color swapping my car. As some of you know my sister backed into the driver's door and driver's rear panel so I had to get that fixed and I am now missing the VIN sticker which tells the day and what not when the car was made.

So basically there is about no way that people(trade in guys & what not) could not tell that the rear panel was replaced so I figure there will already be a big drop in value. I could be wrong this is why I'm posting to get your opinion, but since it probably already will drop in value (more than it would w/o the accident). I figured I would get it painted a dark blue with hints of purple metallics.. Just looking for peoples opinions. Thanks, -gage

so you'll end up painting the entire car? there will still be evidence that your car was silver. if you do it right, you will strip out everything under the hood and reshoot it. however, if you get all the components under the hood masked off properly and just reshoot the exterior, it should be fine. black - under the hood with any color exterior would be the best choice, but that's not an option at this point.

honestly, if the dark metallic blue S2000 was an option (like Muz's), I'd go for it in a heartbeat - I love that color.

The dark blue will look good, but with a red interior...too bad it isn't black.

IMO, i think the gold color the top secret s2k is painted looks good. That with the red interior, with some matching gold/bronze rims would make it look very appealing.

Other than that, i would paint my car championship white, like the older generation ITRs.

$2K? sorry man, that sounds more like a scuff and shoot job to me. Doesn't sound like quality work. I'd get more estimates if you are really serious about doing this. I think it would look great, but get more estimates. And the more I think about it - dark blue with silver under the hood - it isn't going to look too bad.

Dude $2000 is very cheap to paint an entire car. I'd worry about the quality of the paint. Typically prices I've seen are at least double that for a quality job.
