Default Thinking about getting a VTEC controller.

I was thinking about getting a controller for my S. I had one on my old integra and I liked it. I am sure some of you have one on your S. Do you like it, or is it just okay? What brand are you running and what are the other options the unit offers you?

it will change the vtec point and give you the option to add fuel, but the ECU will adapt to this and slowly bring it back to stock levels. still, you get the vtec change.

Most say it isn't worth it.

Dont do it not worth it....this car is 1/4 as mod friendly as the teg...

Your money would be much better spent on gears...best bang for the buck

When I first got my s2k over four years ago, I talked to the folks at a local tuner shop about a VTEC controller, with which I could adjust the point where VTEC cuts in anywhere from 4K to the standard 6K rpm. I was told that it wasn't worth it on an otherwise stock s2k, as the engine just wasn't ready to accept and benefit from VTEC below 6K. And I believe that to be true.

Since then, I've done some fairly creative air intake mods, and the car is now making quite a bit more power, especially at 3.5K rpm and up. So I got to thinking about the VTEC controler again. But I realized that with one of these set at 4K, I'd be in VTEC at my normal highway cruising speed! Not sure I want that!

So I am cruious about these devices as well. Has anybody done any other mods (intake, gears, etc.) which, combined with a VTEC controller, produce positive results?

Thanks,
Richard

If you are driving the car right you are never really under 6000...

I sorta figured that it would not have the same effects as it did on my integra. When I got the VAFC for my teg it was a solid upgrade, good results. I was thinking with the S it might not be a good mod as well. Well thanks for the input, looks like I will have to go spend my money on some other part. maybe a I will do a bigger throttle body. Anyone here done that yet?

I have an Apexi VAFC. I am pretty happy with it, I went from 192 WHP to 203 with a dyno tune. Also lowered the vtec to come in at 5800. Also looks pretty cool.
