Default Thinking about leasing..what do YOU think?

Ok,do I've got 2 grand down on a 2003 Z. I have always liked the S2K and now that it has the rear window problem fixed and I can get it at MSRP...I think, I think I want one. I do have few questions though:

Does it really do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds? I've read different numbers in Motortrend, Car and Driver, AND Road and Track. 5.2/13.8 in MT, 5.5/14.1 in R&T, and 5.8/14.4 in C&D. Whats up with that?

I haven't driven one yet but my dealer told me that I can drive the next 2k2 that comes in...Finally! I currently have a 01 MR2, is the RIDE, not power, similar?

I don't have near 12K miles on my current car and have had it 13 mo now, but is Honda cool to lease from. My mother in Law is leasing from them now.

I LOVE our 00 Prelude and that right there makes me want the S2K.

The 350Z looks cooler though....maybe

Anyway what do you think, give me some input, ThanX!

It sounds as though you want a dragster (which the S2000 isn't). If that's what you are looking for, get a Mustang GT or Cobra or 'Vette. Unless youu are going to mod it up the ying yang.
If you are looking for a pure sportscar that is as close to a racer car, then get the S2000. I'm sure the ride is much harsher than a MR2. It's a no frills roadster. All Honda's technology went into the performance and not the creature functions.
As far as leasing one, if you plan on keeping it for a while, buy it. It doesn't seem to be losing much value as time goes by. If this is just a fly by night thrill, lease it.

I lease my S2000 and I like the leasing, as I like to have new cars often. Most mods for the S2000 can be done without having to drill holes or anything like that, as most people don't want to do that to their S regardless of how they purchased it. As for the 0-60 thing, times like that are very possible but the car has to be really driven to achieve that. If you are looking for the ultimate straight line speed car, look elsewhere. I have had my S for 1 month and currently have 4500 miles on it, with no problems so far and a load of smiles every time I am behind the wheel.

That's cool thanX, if YOU can get loads of smiles from it then hopefully I can too. Thats the reaction I want from my vehicle. The only thing to have EVEr done that for me has been my 2001 Championship R1.....I loved that bike.

YES, I want to be able to get something else in a few years so I am looking into renting it for about 30 mo. And oh, I do love the fact that it IS a sports car! If anyone else has anything for me let me know.

Oh, HOW slow is the ecceleration below 6 grand?

ThanX

Depending on what gear you're in, not slow at all. Drive one and find out. This car is NOT slow.

I traded a 01 MR2 for my S. In terms of the ride the S is a little firmer, however, I didn't notice any major ride differences except the back end is a little looser. This car is the most fun to drive car I've ever owned. Up until I bought the S is was my 93 Prelude with 4WS. This car will go off of the line, and since you are used to the MR2 you will notice a difference in speed. If you are looking for pure 0-60 speed then this is the wrong car, however, if you are looking for a great handling sports car with a rag top then you've found the best one for the money in my opinion.

Last weekend I had a chance to run the S over some great twisties and it preformed flawlessly. What a rush! Only on way to describe the feeling .

I also lease my S, and there are plenty of thread about leasing and everyone has an opinion on it. However, like yourself I like to change cars. Just be careful because there are plenty of ways the dealer can make extra $$ off of you.

The MR2 was a Great car and fun to drive, however, it's no S!
