Default thinking of getting an s2k need info

hi guys i currently own an srt4 and have been checking out the 04 s2k's. the srt is paid off so i would use it as down payment. i love the way they look, the sound and that its topless. i would hate to come up to a red light and be schooled by an srt4 though.

i guess what i am trying to say is that if i added the comptech s/c would i be able to beat the srt4's performance in a straight line?

i understand that the "s" is a track star so its not like i want to make a drag racer out of it. i would be happy with low 13's to high 12's. a 0-60 time of 5.0 or better.

has anyone been able to acomplish this? hows the daily drivability of it?

reason i dont want to turbo it is because i love the fact that its realy high compression and sweet sounding.

willing to spend 11ish to make it happen.

thank you for your knowledge in advance guys.

people need to get over with beating or being faster then others.

there will always be a faster car then you, so just get over it. just enjoy your car and have fun with it.

that is just my 2 cents.

If your worried about straightline performance, the S is not for you, the car wasn't designed to go from red light to red light. If you have the chance to find yourself going through the twisties rev'n at 8000 rpm....at that point I think you'll "get it".

YOu may want to post this in the car talk section of this board. Nobody in this forum really knows anything about cars.....

moving to s2000 talk. quickysrt, use the search feature to find out what numbers people with the s/c's have been getting, or give comptech a call and ask them what their numbers are.

The best mod to help the straight line performance on an S2000 is a Thiokol SRB. Until you light it off, the car is pretty much the same (except for a bit of a performance hit due to the weight of the SRB).

Once ignited, the SRB will quickly take an S2000 from 0 to 17,500 miles in a bit over 70 seconds.

If you check out the street encounters it is about 50/50 on who posts that they won or lost to an srt-4. I myself haven't raced one yet. With the SC your goals are not out of the question. You can ask anyone that has dragged the car you will need to run it like you hate it to get good times. I will have just under 10k when finished and will have about 300hp to the wheels. Most SC kits advertise 100 horsepower increase to the wheels. Most kits I see put about 280-310 to the wheels depending on I/H/E and overall tune of the engine. Good luck and I think no matter what car you go with (current or th S) you will be happy.
