Default Thinking of replacing the soft top with a CR tonneau, but NO hardtop!

Check out this crazy idea I just cooked up.

I have been admiring the CR for a while, especially top down with the unique body colored CR Tonneau cover. When my soft top needs replacement, instead of getting a new soft top or getting a hardtop, I would just get a CR tonneau cover until I could afford a OEM hardtop.

My S2k is a garage queen and sees little use (500 miles since November 2011). I live in Florida, where we can go WEEKS without rain, so I would be keeping a close eye on the weather. I use my car mainly to cruise around town, go to a friends house, meets, etc. Basically the S2k wouldn't be out of sight without a top.

I consider myself to be pretty hardcore, meaning I make the sacrifices needed to enjoy my hobby and situations in life. I drove plenty of times roundtrip from N.Y. to Florida with NO A/C, wind blowing like crazy at highway speeds, with no cruise control. I also drove my EF for a year and a half in steamy Florida with NO A/C. Along with driving with no radio for about 4 months. Along with driving 3 and a half hours each way to my Father's house in those conditions. Basically if someone can make this happen it would be me.

Plus how cool would it be to see a Silverstone with a CR tonneau cover??

I love the look of the tonneau, and as a fellow silverstone owner I say do it!

And don't skimp on the pics!

The soft top on my car has also been gutted and replaced with the CR tonneau. It's awesome! I recommend it if you don't mind losing the soft top.

Some advice: If you're buying used, be sure to find someone who will include all the necessary hardware. I got lucky when I got mine, because the seller took extra care to include all the additional pieces. If you don't get those, it will be really annoying (and expensive!) buying everything individually.

How difficult is the install? I definitely want all the hardware if I do this. I searched lightly and saw a Robbins top installed was $1100. Do u have any pix?

It does seem like you could pull it off. Post pics for sure if you end up doing it, I really like the look of the CR tonneau. I do think you might want a cockpit cover or something though, to keep dust and stuff out of the interior!
