I mean the black shield behind the front bumper.....



I did'nt remember having to drill those out.

The spring clips go before you install the lip over them for the sides just like you have on the pic shown. This way you will not see the clips after you install the lip. The clips you are talking about underneath slide into the bumper itself you don't have to drill ANYTHING at all at any point in time. The clips do not go into the black splash shield they slide into the holes on the painted bumper surface. I don't have any pics of my lip right now but if you need pics I can show you where everything is mounted under the car but if you take these clips and put them into the painted bumper surface you will see what I mean.

Thanks. I get what you mean, but on mine, after I slide the clips onto the bumper, the top of the clips protrude out, there is a raised hole on the clip for where the screw goes into, if I slide these clips ontop the bump, it hits the black above it and pushed it up. What I'm suggesting is, that my black shield wasn't knotched out at the factory like other s2000's.
