Default For those with a hardtop

Hey Fellow S2ki'ers

I have a hardtop on my MY02 and boy does it take some of the performance away from the car. Do you guys feel the same? I know the top is advertised as being only 44lbs, but when I take that thing off, it's more like taking out a passenger. Do you guys feel the same? or is my S just down on power perhaps?

Silver

Yes, you are adding weight and raising the center of gravity - you will feel it. Nothing too bad but something nonetheless.

I agree with Alejo, you will notice it though it is not a huge difference or anything, Think of it as driving on a full tank and driving at 1/4 tank the difference feels something like that.

It only felt sluggish when I first put it on. I would guess it's because the ecu doesn't recognize the heavier weight....after a while...the ecu adjusts to the extra drag (my opinion). However, I added the hard top and subtracted the spare tire =) so it balanced out anyhow.

How about this one....

Did not want to use SN, thought that would just be mean.

"I believe the magic number is 5.2 qts. Also, as long as you're oil level is a few X's above low you'll be fine. If you have low oil, the ECU will retard timing and basically go into limp mode. This happened to me on the way to the Dragon. I stopped to go to the head and the rest of the group was going about 85-90mph. I had to to 120mph for about 10 miles to catch up. My car burned oil during that time, and once I caught up I noticed my car wouldn't accelerate very much or hit VTEC. The ECU does this to prevent you from blowing up your engine. Once we stopped, I added a quart of oil and my car was fine."
