We wouldn't see gain like the STi by using higher octane...I think it might only be like the GTi or even slightly less.
The power gained is typically from increased timing, however stock ECU's have a set timing map which they don't go beyond. I'd be willing to bet that using the higher octane in the turbo cars may actually give it a little more boost and keep the boost more stable since the ECU typically controls boost levels
I'd also be willing to guess that due to the fact that the GTi said 95 could be used but youd get more power on 98 then they probably have a second timing map for the higher octane gas. maybe that way for the STi too...
