Default those of you with tints...do you get pulled over

I had tinted windows on my previous cars and got pulled over twice...

Would S attract more attention with the tints...especially with top down and windows up?

By the way, I'm located in the chicagoland area.

Nope, never had a problem. I think it depends on how dark your tint is (I believe there are legal allowable levels) and which windows you have tinted (windscreen for example is illegal here).

Depends on the state. I think Illinois is a "no side" tint state. Something like a safety thing for cops in Chicago... as opposed to Arizona where you can tint everything with glass to keep from baking inside your car.....

On a hijack: Does anyone know if you get in trouble if you cross from a tint-ok state into a no-tint state on a vacation while passing through?

I have dark tint and have not been pulled over. I've had it for 6 months now and frequently pass by cops. Each state is different.

I have pretty dark tint, but if I see a cop I roll my windows down.

I have really dark tint... but like others said here in Arizona they don't really bother you for it.

I am also in the Chicagoland area and I have been given parking tickets in the past for dark tint. (with my dodge stealth 3 years ago)

I don't know, it may depend on the state. Georgia recently repealed their tint laws as being too vague and unconstitutional because it didn't take into consideration residents of other states passing through or visiting. As a result, right now there is no tint law. I just got my side windows and rear window tinted with 5% 3M.
actually i think it really depends on the officer.

sure there r different laws in different states. but i think it all depends on the mood of the officer.

i love to tint my windows. but don't think that i would want to attract the attention of the cops.

You have to check the law for your state. I know here in NY you are allowed to have 35% window tint, and its legal, but I have no clue about Chicago. I used to have 20% on my civic back when I was in HS and three 50.00 tickets later I regreted getting them done so dark. So find out what your allowed to have so you don't get tickets for it. Also, I think that dark, dark window tint is annoying at night, and 35% is just right IMO. -Michael.
